From 3 to 5 October 2023 the Institute of Public Policy and Administration (IPPA) of the UCA in partnership with Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), International Transport Forum (ITF) and International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) organized the second SIPA Summer School 2023 on Decarbonisation of Transport in Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Mongolia) in OECD Istanbul Centre, Turkey.
The SIPA Summer School brought together subject experts, policymakers, think tanks, industry leaders, academics, and representatives of government and civil society working on decarbonisation of the transport sector from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
Over the course of two days and a half, participants engaged in interactive discussion and knowledge-sharing on their national sustainable transport agendas including new approaches such as systems thinking and integrated sustainability evaluations as well as methodological frameworks and tools for transport infrastructure decarbonisation.
The brainstorming and knowledge-sharing activities helped identify good practices and remaining gaps to align infrastructure investments with low-emission, resilient development pathways.
