Rethinking Sustainability, Infrastructure, and Memory in Central Asia

Dr. Madina Junussova, a Senior Research Fellow at UCA’s Institute of Public Policy and Administration (IPPA), recently took part in the Lisbon CESS and ESCAS joint conference. During the session Rethinking Sustainability, Infrastructure, and Memory in Central Asia, she presented her research titled Decarbonizing Transport in Central Asia: Achieving a Sustainable Transition. Her presentation garnered significant interest, particularly from attendees representing Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. The discussion highlighted critical issues, including investment inequalities, infrastructure challenges, and the complexities of transitioning to sustainable transport systems.
