The UCA SIPA team contributed to the SIPA Policy Dialogue on Sustainable and Resilient Freight Connectivity in Central Asia, held on March 11–12, 2025, in Almaty, Kazakhstan. This high-level event, organized by the International Transport Forum (ITF), the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan, and UNESCAP, focused on strategies to enhance connectivity, sustainability, and resilience in Central Asia’s freight transport systems.
On March 11, Dr. Madina Junussova, Senior Research Fellow at the University of Central Asia, participated in the In-focus Policy Dialogue on Sustainable Infrastructure Funding and Project Implementation. The discussion highlighted best practices for financing and implementing freight transport infrastructure projects, emphasizing evidence-based approaches that align economic development with environmental sustainability.
On March 12, Dr. Junussova co-led a session on Freight Transport Modelling, Scenario Design, and Performance Indicators as part of the technical workshops. The session introduced participants to data-driven methodologies for assessing freight connectivity, decarbonization pathways, and policy impact evaluation. The interactive format provided hands-on experience in scenario-based policymaking for sustainable transport development.
The UCA SIPA team’s participation reinforced the critical role of research and capacity-building in shaping resilient and sustainable transport policies for the region. The University of Central Asia, through its Institute of Public Policy and Administration, remains committed to contributing to evidence-based policy discussions and fostering regional collaboration for sustainable infrastructure development.
