On 12 September 2023, UCA’s Institute of Public Policy and Administration (IPPA) will host the inaugural SIPA (Sustainable Infrastructure Programme in Asia) webinar on Decarbonisation of Transport in Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Mongolia).
The webinar will bring together subject experts, policymakers, think tanks, industry leaders, academics, and representatives of government and civil society from Central Asia and Mongolia. It will commence with the ITF (International Transport Forum) presentation on sustainable transport in Central Asia followed by the announcement of Policy Brief competition winners, and presentation of their works: https://sipa-centralasia.org/announcement-of-the-policy-brief-winners/
The IPPA will present key findings of the background study on the decarbonisation of transport in Central Asia, focusing on countries’ attempts to develop sustainable transport infrastructure. The study contributes to implementing the SIPA framework, led by Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and funded by the Government of Germany: www.sipa-centralasia.org. The SIPA aims to help Central and Southeast Asian countries ensure energy, transport and industrial infrastructure investments aligned with low-emission development pathways compatible with the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals
